Huge Military Discounts For Western Caribbean Cruise On Vision Of The Seas

If you’re a former or present member of the armed forces in North America, pretty much every cruise line offers some sort of discount or bonus on pretty much every cruise, but it varies. For Royal Caribbean and their five night Western Caribbean itinerary onboard Vision of the Seas embarking September 20, the discount cuts really deep.

On a cruise when Joe Civilian will be paying no less than $347 per person, current and former military personnel can have an inside stateroom for as low as $222 per person. The same discount applies to members of the Police and Fire services. This price is based on double occupancy and is subject to an additional $117 per person in taxes.

The Cruise

royal caribbean vision of the seas western caribbean cruise

Vision of the Seas embarks from Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida at 4:30pm on Saturday, September 20, 2014. She arrives back at Ft. Lauderdale for 7am on Thursday, September 25. In between, Vision of the Seas makes two port calls.

After a short trip around the bottom of Florida, on Sunday, September 21 Vision of the Seas stops at Key West in the Florida Keys. The ship is in this fabulous port from 8am until 5pm. After a full day at sea, she arrives at her second port of call on Tuesday, September 23. The final port call is at Georgetown on Grand Cayman and Vision stays here also from 8am until 5pm. Both Monday and Wednesday are full days at sea as Vision of the Seas rounds the western end of Cuba.

The Price

As mentioned, the military, police and fire rate for an inside stateroom on this ship is just $222 per person, based on double occupancy. With the additional $117 per person in government fees and taxes tacked on, the total for two for an inside cabin can be had for as low as $678. Unlike many ‘flash’ or ‘super saver’ rates, the full amount is not due on the day of booking. $210 would be due by May 31, 2014 and the balance of $468 would not be due until July 22. It should also be noted that only one person per stateroom needs to be a qualified military member.

Folks that are 55 and over enjoy nearly as great a rate. Seniors pay as low as $233 per person for that same inside stateroom. Of course, these cabins are subject to the same $117 per person in government fees and taxes.

Enchantment of the Seas 4 Night Bahamas Cruise From Just $169

Royal Caribbean provides the perfect short getaway to the Bahamas from Port Canaveral, Florida. It’s a buyer’s market for the April 14, 2014 sailing on Enchantment of the Seas for the four night Bahamas cruise. An inside stateroom can be had for as low as $169 per person. Hurry, time is running short and all Balcony cabins and suites are already waitlisted.

The Cruise

Enchantment of the Seas embarks from Port Canaveral, Florida at 4:30pm on Monday, April 14, 2014 for a four night Bahamas cruise. She arrives back at her home port on Friday, April 18 at 7am. Along the way, Enchantment makes two stops, including a full day and night at Nassau.

On Tuesday, April 15, Enchantment of the Seas anchors off Coco Cay at 8am. Guests are tendered ashore to this private island leased by Royal Caribbean. Formerly known as Little Stirrup Cay, the island is part of the Berry Islands of the Bahamas. Chances of getting lost on the island are slim with it being just a kilometre wide from north to south and 190 metres from east to west. The island is used by Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises. Enchantment of the Seas leaves the island at 5pm.

The following day, Wednesday, April 16, Enchantment docks at Nassau at 7am. She remains in port at the largest city in the Bahamas until midnight. After heading back out to sea, the ship takes her time going back up the coast of Florida with a full day at sea on Thursday, April 17.

The Price

Right now, an inside stateroom can be had for as low as $169 per person, based on double occupancy. With the $72 in government fees and taxes tacked on, the total price for two can be as low as $482. Ocean View staterooms start at $259 per person. As mentioned, balcony cabins and suites are all already spoken for. This price trumps all other rates including military, police and fire and seniors.

The Ship

royal caribbean enchantment of the seas
Enchantment of the Seas was built at Kvaemer Masa Yards in Helsinki, Finland, now known as STX Finland. She made her maiden voyage on July 13, 1997 and was upgraded for 2005. Enchantment is a Vision Class ship with a gross tonnage of 82,910. She is 301 metres or 989 feet in length. Previous to 2005, the ship was 279 metres or 916 feet in length. There are eleven decks accessible to the capacity 2,449 guests.

Enchantment calls Port Canaveral her home port all year round. She alternates between three and four night Bahamas cruises. The three night has the same two ports of call but she hustles back to Port Canaveral after leaving Nassau and doesn’t have a full day at sea.

Cross The Atlantic On Liberty Of The Seas From Just $509

What would entice someone to spend the first eight full days at sea on a 13 night cruise across the Atlantic Ocean? First, the cruise is onboard Liberty of the Seas from Royal Caribbean. This is one of the largest ships on the high seas and probably has more to do onboard than there is to do in your own town. Second, for this May 1, 2014 sailing, Royal Caribbean has dropped the price of an inside cabin as low as $509 per person! For military, police and fire, the deal is even sweeter.

The Cruise

royal caribbean liberty of the seas transatlantic repositioning

Liberty of the Seas embarks from Port Everglades at Ft. Lauderdale, Florida at 4:30pm on Thursday, May 1, 2014 on a 13 night journey across the Atlantic Ocean to Barcelona, Spain. She arrives at her final destination at 6am on Wednesday, May 14. Along the way, Liberty of the Seas makes three port calls, all on the eastern side of the Atlantic.

After eight full days at sea, Liberty of the Seas makes her first stop on Saturday, May 10 at Lisbon, Portugal. Typically, cruise ships repositioning from the Caribbean to the Mediterranean will stop either in the Azores or Canary Islands. Liberty motors right past these rest stops in the middle of the Atlantic to reach continental Europe. She is docked at the capital of Portugal from 7am until 5pm.

The following day, Liberty of the Seas stops at Sevilla, Spain, still on the Atlantic side of the country. She is in port at Sevilla from 9am until 6pm on Sunday, May 11.

After a full day at sea, meandering past Gibraltar and into the Mediterranean Sea, Liberty of the Seas finds her final port of call on Tuesday, May 13 at Palma de Mallorca. She is parked at the main city of Spain’s Balearic Islands from 8am until 5pm on Tuesday, May 13.

The Price

Right now, an inside stateroom onboard Liberty of the Seas starts at $509 per person, based on double occupancy. With the additional $86 per person in government fees and taxes tacked on, the total price for two for an inside cabin is $1,190.

Prices don’t go up too rapidly from there. Ocean view cabins start at $709 per person. With a balcony, staterooms start at $1,179 per person. A suite starts at $1,659 per person. Regardless of stateroom, each guest is subject to the $86 in government fees and taxes.

Royal Caribbean offers much more than free donuts and coffee to current and former members of the North American armed forces and those who work in the police and fire service. Those who qualify pay $450 each for that same lowest priced inside cabin. For an ocean view stateroom, prices start as low as $582 per person. A cabin with a balcony is a great savings, starting at $845 per person.

The Ship

liberty of the seas royal caribbean
Liberty of the Seas began service in May, 2007. She was renovated in 2011 with the DreamWorks Experience integrated. Liberty is one of three Freedom Class ships in the Royal Caribbean fleet with sisters Freedom of the Seas and Independence of the Seas being nearly identical.

At a gross tonnage of 154,407, all three Freedom Class ships tie as the fourth largest cruise ship currently on the high seas. Only Royal Caribbean’s twin Allure of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas, along with the Norwegian Epic are larger. Liberty of the Seas is heavier but not quite as long as the Queen Mary 2 of the Cunard Line.

Liberty is 1,112 feet long or 339 metres in length. Using the old standard, she is the length of three NFL football fields. There are 15 decks accessible to the capacity 4,600 passengers. The crew numbers around 1,300.

As mentioned, the ship is a destination. Liberty of the Seas is fully integrated with the DreamWorks Experience, making it great for smaller children. Also included is FlowRider, a surf simulator. For added enjoyment, there are two hot tubs cantilevered over the edge of the boat, giving great views of the ocean around.

From Just $31 Per Night To Cruise New Orleans To Barcelona!

The deals just don’t get much better than this! Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas heads out of New Orleans, Louisiana on Saturday, April 26, 2014 for a 16 night cruise across the Atlantic Ocean to Barcelona, Spain. Serenade makes four great port calls along the way. An inside cabin on the ship can be had for as low as $31 per night per person before taxes. Don’t let the taxes scare you – it’s just $65 per person for the entire cruise.

The Cruise

royal caribbean serenade of the seas transatlantic repositioning

Serenade of the Seas embarks on her 16 night Transatlantic Repositioning cruise from New Orleans at 5pm on Saturday, April 26, 2014. She arrives at her summer home of Barcelona, Spain on the Mediterranean at 6am on Monday, May 12. Along the way, Serenade makes four amazing stops.

After four full days at sea, crossing the Gulf of Mexico and skimming across the top of Cuba, Hispaniola and Puerto Rico, Serenade of the Seas makes her first port of call at Philipsburg on the island of Sint Maarten. She is docked on the Dutch side of the island shared with France from 7am until 5pm.

After six more full days at sea, next up is the island of Tenerife. This dot in the Atlantic Ocean belongs to Spain and is the largest of the seven Canary Islands. Serenade stops at Tenerife from 7am until 3pm on Thursday, May 8.

There’s one last full day at sea between Tenerife and Malaga on the mainland of Spain. Serenade of the Seas arrives at Malaga on Saturday, May 10. Malaga is a nice long stop with the ship docking at 10am and not leaving port until 8pm. In contrast, the final port of call is much shorter with the ship arriving at Cartegena, Spain at 7am on Sunday, May 11 and leaving in the early afternoon at 2pm.

The Price

Right now, an inside stateroom can be had for as low as $489, based on double occupancy. With the $65 in government fees and taxes tacked on, the total price for two is as low as $1,108 for the entire 16 night cruise.

The pricing on upgraded staterooms moves up pretty fast. An Ocean View cabin starts at $609 per person while a balcony will increase the price to $1,199 per person and an suite starts at $2,289 per person.

This special rate trumps all other discounts. It is so low that there is no added advantage for military, police and fire or seniors.

The Ship

Serenade of the Seas is a Royal Caribbean Radiance Class ship built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany. The ship made her maiden voyage in August, 2003 and is a decent sized vessel. Serenade has a gross tonnage of 90,090 and is 293 metres or 962 feet in length. There are 12 decks accessible to the capacity 2,490 guests. Typically, there are 891 crew members onboard.

Serenade is currently alternating between seven night Bahamas and seven night Western Caribbean itineraries out of her winter home port of New Orleans. Once in the Mediterranean, Serenade will mostly run 12 night cruises out of Barcelona over the summer months.

Great Deals For Brilliance of the Seas Western Caribbean Cruise - Act Fast!

This is a great deal, but you really have to act fast. Brilliance of the Seas rolls out of Tampa on Monday, February 24 and you can be on that ship for a great price. If you’re present or former military or you’re in the police or fire services, the deal is even sweeter.

The Cruise

royal caribbean brilliance of the seas western caribbean cruise

Brilliance of the Seas, a Radiance Class ship of Royal Caribbean, embarks from Tampa, Florida on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 4pm for a five night Western Caribbean cruise. Brilliance returns to Tampa at 7am on Saturday, March 1. Along the way, the ship makes two port calls.

After cruising down the Gulf Coast of Florida, Brilliance of the Seas stops at Key West, Florida on Tuesday, February 25. She is in port from 11:30am until 5:30pm, just enough time to live a little of that Ernest Hemingway lifestyle.

After a full day at sea, crossing above Cuba in the Gulf of Mexico, Brilliance makes her second port call at Cozumel, Mexico. The ship is docked at the Mexican tropical island paradises from 8am until 6pm on Thursday, February 27. She takes another full day at sea before arriving back home in Tampa.

The government fees and taxes for this cruise are very low at just $68 per person. The total for two for an inside cabin currently costs as low as $634, including taxes. But wait, that’s not all. There is an additional $25 per cabin onboard credit. An outside stateroom with a balcony is priced as low as $749 per person.,

The discounts for former and present members of the armed forces in Canada and the United States bring the inside cabin down to $221 per person. Royal Caribbean honours those heroes in the police and fire services, as well, with the same discount as military.

The Ship

Brilliance of the Seas was built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany and made her maiden voyage for Royal Caribbean in July, 2002. Brilliance is the second oldest of the four Radiance Class ships in the RC fleet with Radiance of the Seas as the oldest, along with younger sisters Serenade of the Seas and Jewel of the Seas.

You Pick - Great Pricing On 2 Different 4 Night Bahamas Cruises

Usually, when considering a last minute deal, there is little choice. That’s not the case on February 10, 2014 if you’re looking for a four night Bahamas cruise out of Miami. Norwegian Sky and Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Sea both leave Miami at pretty much the same time on the 10th and return at the same time on the 14th. Each has three port calls and each can be had for nearly the same identical low, low price.

Here’s the details for both. It’s up to you and your personal preferences to decide.

Norwegian Sky

The Cruise

norwegian sky 4 night bahamas cruise

Norwegian Sky embarks from Miami, Florida at 5pm on Monday, February 10, 2014 for a four night Bahamas cruise. Sky returns to Miami at 7am on Friday, February 14. She makes three port calls meaning there are no full days at sea.

On Tuesday, Norwegian Sky stops at Great Stirrup Cay, a private island in the Bahamas owned by Norwegian Cruise Line. The ship will be at this location from 8am until 5pm. The following day, it’s off to Nassau, the only shared port between the two cruises we’re looking at today. Sky is docked at Nassau from 8am until 6pm. On Thursday, Norwegian Sky docks at the other major city in the Bahamas, Freeport on Grand Bahama Island. She is in port from 8am until 5pm.

The Price

An inside stateroom for this cruise can be had for as low as $129 per person, based on double occupancy. With $101.07 per person in additional government fees and taxes tacked on, the total price for this cabin for two goes for as low as $460.14. Ocean View rooms start from $159 per person while a balcony cabin starts at $329 per person and a suite can be had for as low as $1,099 per person.

The Ship

Norwegian Sky has had a bit of a broken life. She was originally ordered in 1993 and was to be the Costa Olympia for Costa Cruises. Construction on the ship was started by Bremer Vulkan in Germany. However, the company went out of business in 1997. Bremer Vulkan had been around since 1893 in the ship building biz, mostly cargo ships with just a few passenger cruise ships on the resume.

The ship that would become Norwegian Sky was then towed to Lloyd Werft in Germany where it was completed in 1999. The ship never sailed for Costa and was the Norwegian Sky from 1999 to 2004. She then became the Pride of Hawaii, still under Norwegian Cruise Line. In 2008, she returned to the Norwegian Sky name.

Back in September, 1999, on her inaugural cruise, Sky was at the mouth of the Saguenay River at the St. Lawrence River in Quebec, Canada when she ran aground. The ship was evacuated as a precaution and there were no injuries.

One of two Sky Class Norwegian Cruise Line ships, Norwegian Sky is a smaller ship with a gross tonnage of 77,104. She is 260 metres or 853 feet in length and has nine decks accessible to passengers. Capacity on the vessel is for 2,004 guests with 934 crew members.

The other Sky Class ship is the Norwegian Sun. Sun is younger and slightly larger. She was put in service for NCL in 2001.

Majesty of the Seas

The Cruise

Majesty of the Seas embarks for her four night Bahamas Cruise out of Miami a half hour before Norwegian Sky. She arrives back at the same time on Friday, 7am. Majesty also makes three port calls but with a slightly more southwest feel.
On Tuesday, Majesty of the Seas is docked at Nassau from 8am until midnight. This is an amazingly long time in port. The following day, passengers can get rested up, lying in the sun at Coco Cay in the Bahamas. Coco Cay is a private island owned by Royal Caribbean and guests have from 8am until 5pm to enjoy it before heading off to the final destination. That final stop is Key West, Florida. Majesty is in Key West on Thursday from 10am until 6pm.

The Price

An inside stateroom on Majesty of the Seas has a slightly higher base price that the equivalent on Norwegian Sky, starting from $133 per person, based on double occupancy. Government fees and taxes are slightly lower at $98 per person. This means an interior cabin for two can be had for as low as $462, including taxes. The difference in price between the two ships is less than two dollars. An Ocean View room on Majesty of the Seas starts at $169 per person and a suite can be had for as low as $929 per person.

The Ship

majesty of the seas royal caribbeanMajesty of the Seas is one of Royal Caribbean’s oldest active ships, making her maiden voyage in April, 1992. She was built by Chantiers de L’Atlantique in St. Nazaire, France, which is now owned by STX Europe. Back in 1992, Majesty was christened by Queen Sonja of Norway. She was last refurbed in 2007.
At a length of 880 feet or 268 metres and 13 decks accessible to passengers, Majesty of the Seas may not be the largest boat on the ocean but she’s of pretty decent size. The ship carries around 2,750 passengers and 833 crew members.
The last remaining ship of Royal Caribbean’s Sovereign Class, Majesty’s two sister ships are still around but sailing for RC’s Spanish subsidiary, Pullmantur Cruises. Sovereign of the Seas is the oldest, put in service in 1988. She switched to Pullmantur after 2008. Monarch of the Seas came into service in 1991 and just switched over in 2013.

Colon, Panama to Ft. Lauderdale Via Vision of the Seas: Unique, Short and Cheap

On April 26, 2014, Vision of the Seas of Royal Caribbean embarks on a short, unique and very affordable cruise that, coupled with, say, a week at a Panama all-inclusive resort, makes for an awesome vacation. Vision leaves its winter home in Colon, Panama to head north to Ft. Lauderdale, a port she’ll call home until November.

The Cruise

vision of the seas colon to fort lauderdale cruise

Vision of the Seas embarks on a very short Repositioning Cruise from Colon, Panama at 3pm on Saturday, April 26, 2014. After two full days at sea, moving north across the Caribbean Sea then around the top of Cuba, she arrives at Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Vision reaches her new home at 8am on Tuesday, April 29. There are no additional ports of call on the journey.

Currently, Vision of the Seas is running seven night Southern Caribbean itineraries out of Colon. These cruises are the most affordable way to see the Southern Caribbean with more ports of call in less days. Many ships use Colon as a port call before, or after, transiting the Panama Canal. Vision of the Seas is currently the only major cruise ship that uses the Panama city as a home port.

Once in Ft. Lauderdale, Vision of the Seas runs four and five night Western Caribbean cruises, with the odd ten night Bermuda cruise mixed in, until November. The ship does not return to Colon in 2014. Instead, she moves to the Gulf Coast of Florida to use Tampa as a home port for her seven night Western Caribbean cruises.

The Price

For this three night cruise, an inside stateroom can be had right now for as low as $136 per person, based on double occupancy. The additional government fees and taxes are extremely low at just $49 per person. This makes the price for two for an inside stateroom, including taxes, as low as $370.

The rest of the ship is quite affordable, as well. Ocean View staterooms start at $189 per person. A balcony cabin can be had from $189 per person. Even suites start from as low as $299 per person.

The Ship

Vision of the Seas has been in service since 1998 and is one of six Royal Caribbean Vision Class ships. Vision Class includes Legend of the Seas, Splendour of the Seas, Grandeur of the Seas, Rhapsody of the Seas and Enchantment of the Seas, all built between 1995 and 1998 by Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France.

Vision is in the smaller range by today’s standards with a gross tonnage of 78,340. She is 279 metres or 915 feet in length and has eleven decks accessible to passengers. The ship has a capacity for 2,435 guests with 765 crew members on board.

However, from there, the price goes through the roof. I assume this has to do with the close to a week in the Caribbean before heading across the Atlantic. Ocean View staterooms start at $1,319 per person while a balcony starts at $1,619 per person. The price for a suite starts at $2,829 per person.

Royal Caribbean is trying to sweeten the pot for those wanting a cabin at a higher level than an inside. If booked over the phone before February 28, guests are eligible for up to $300 in credits per stateroom. This does not apply to any online booking.

Southern Caribbean Cruise From Just $753 For 2, Taxes and Fees Included!

Looking for a cruise that’s a bit unique and also a hell of a deal? A seven night Southern Caribbean cruise out of Colon, Panama in March, 2014 might be just what you’re looking for. Why? Colon is typically a port of call for ships passing through the Panama Canal. Royal Caribbean is the only major cruise line to be using Colon as a home port in 2014.

To sweeten the deal, right now, Royal Caribbean has a Panama BOGO promotion, meaning a couple can get on the Vision of the Seas for a very low price. Starting from Colon also gives you a chance to spend time before or after at a great Panama beach resort, exploring the Panama Canal or visiting the rainforest.

The Cruise

Everyone longs for a Southern Caribbean cruise and what better home port than a Central American city right in the thick of things. Embarking from Colon, Panama means there is no long, at sea, journey from Florida. This means more destinations in a much shorter time.

Vision of the Seas embarks from Colon for this seven night journey at 5:30pm on Saturday, March 29, 2014. She makes four port calls before arriving back at Colon on Saturday, April 5 at 6:30am. This could be subtitled the ABC Cruise as the ship makes a stop at all of the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao), along with Cartegena, Colombia.

Cartegena is the first stop and a good long one. Vision of the Seas reaches the Panamanian neighbour at 10:30am on Sunday, March 30 and doesn’t depart until 9:30 at night. After a day at sea, she arrives at Kralendijk, Bonaire on Tuesday, April 1 and stays from 10am to 6pm.

Vision continues her journey eastward and arrives at Oranjestad, Aruba on Wednesday, April 2. A ten hour stop, the ship is docked in Aruba from 8am to 6pm. The final port call is on Thursday, April 3 from 7am until 4pm at Willemstad, Curacao. Vision of the Seas arrives back at Colon at 6:30am on Saturday, April 5.

The Price

As mentioned, this is a Royal Caribbean Panama BOGO (buy one, get one free) promotion so staterooms can’t be expected to stay empty for long. This deal is only available on inside staterooms and is similar to Carnival’s Super Saver fares, in that the room is not assigned until the time of check-in.

An interior stateroom for 2 can be had for as low as $753 CAD, government taxes and fees included! This is equates to just over $53 per person per night – a rate tough to find on other cruises with taxes not included.

We’re just over a week away from a five night Western Caribbean cruise out of Tampa on board Royal Caribbean’s Brilliance of the Seas. The last minute price for this cruise has dropped to as low as $179 per person for an interior stateroom or $35.80 per person per night.

This five night Western Caribbean itinerary embarks from Tampa, Florida at 4pm on Saturday, December 7, 2013. After spending Sunday at sea, rounding the western tip of Cuba, Brilliance of the Seas makes its first of two port calls at Georgetown, Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands.

The ship stays docked in Georgetown from 7am to 3:30 in the afternoon. Grand Cayman is all about the water surrounding the island and not so much the land the island is made of. The thing to do is visit Stingray City Sandbar. This is an opportunity to swim up close and personal with stingrays in their environment. Although you can use U.S. dollars in Georgetown, the official currency is the Caymanian Dollar (KYD). One Canadian dollar is currently valued at .77 KYD.

The following morning, Brilliance of the Seas moves a little further west and docks at Cozumel, Mexico. The ship will remain at the Mexican island resort area from 10am to 7pm.

Wednesday is another full day at sea as the ship makes its way back across the Gulf of Mexico. Brilliance returns to Tampa on the morning of Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 7am.
